Parity · Company Management Platform

One set of books for every company you run.

Parity is the accounting and practice platform for owner-managed groups: several companies, the owner’s own books, two or more jurisdictions, one place. Ledgers, invoicing, VAT, bank reconciliation, statutory deadlines and document capture, built for the way a group actually works and run for you by Equinox.

In brief

You always know which books you are in, what is due next, and why a number is what it is

Every figure Parity shows is derived from an append-only journal that nobody can quietly rewrite. Every bank line must agree with the books before it is called reconciled. Every value an AI read off a document is marked as such until a person confirms it.

The problem

Running a group on spreadsheets

Most owner-managed groups outgrow their tools long before they notice. One company runs on accounting software, another on a workbook, the owner’s personal tax position on a third, and the deadlines live in someone’s head. The cost shows up in three places.

Nobody can say which version is true

A workbook can be edited without a trace. When the auditor or the tax office asks why a balance changed, the answer is a reconstruction.

Cross-entity work falls between the cracks

Recharges between companies, a director paying a company cost personally, income that is taxable in one country only when it reaches another: single-company software has nowhere to put these facts.

Deadlines are remembered, not known

VAT returns, tax returns, payroll filings and registry deadlines differ by entity and by jurisdiction. A missed one costs penalties and interest, and nothing warned you.

What Parity does

Every entity separate, one login for all of them

Each company, and each set of personal books, is its own entity with its own chart of accounts, currency and year end. One login reaches them all, and every screen carries the entity’s colour so you never post to the wrong one.

What Parity gives you, by job
JobWhat Parity gives you
BooksDouble-entry ledger per entity; journals with reversal pairs; monthly periods that soft-close and lock; trial balance as at any date; chart-of-accounts templates per jurisdiction and entity type.
Money inClients, projects and rate cards; invoices and credit notes with VAT decided by the server from the facts of each supply; receipts and allocation; a dunning ladder that drafts reminders and letters for review; Peppol BIS 3.0 e-invoices checked against the EN 16931 business rules.
Money outSupplier bills deduplicated on the supplier’s own invoice number; expense claims checked against your spending policy; costs split across companies recorded as matching intercompany entries.
BankingStatements imported from CSV, Excel or PDF; matching that shows its reasons for every proposal; a reconciliation that cannot be marked complete until bank and books agree, with a signed reconciliation statement.
ComplianceA statutory calendar generated per entity from jurisdiction rules: VAT, income tax, payroll and registry filings, each with its preparation window, escalation and proof of filing.
Time and peopleTimesheets and work in progress drawn down into invoices; a Maltese payroll engine (tax, social security, maternity fund, bonuses, overtime, fringe benefits).
DocumentsUpload or forward invoices and receipts; AI reads them into drafts for a person to confirm; originals kept in tamper-evident storage.

Why the numbers can be trusted

The ledger is the truth, and it cannot be rewritten

Every report is derived from an append-only journal. A mistake is corrected by a visible reversal, never by editing history. Posting into a closed period needs a single-use permission with a written reason, recorded against the entry it allowed.

  1. Money is never a floating-point number.

Amounts are exact decimals from the screen to the database, enforced by a code rule and by runtime checks.

  2. Isolation is enforced by the database.

Each entity’s data is fenced by row-level security, so a fault in one screen cannot show one company’s books to someone entitled only to another’s.

  3. Rules come with their sources.

Tax rates, deadlines and treatments are stored as data with their legal citations. Each stays marked unverified until a named person confirms it against a source.

  4. Backups that prove themselves.

Encrypted backups are restored automatically into a throwaway database, which must reproduce the trial balance exactly before the backup counts.

  5. Sign-in with passkeys.

Access uses hardware-backed passkeys (WebAuthn), not passwords alone.

Tested adversarially, not just tested

2,354 generated cases across 11 areas, from ledger and VAT to payroll and e-invoicing

Before release, expected results were computed independently from the specification and compared with the live system. The campaign found 26 product defects. 25 were fixed and every case was re-proven; the 26th was confirmed as intended behaviour.

AI that shows its work

AI removes typing. It never makes decisions

Parity reads a supplier invoice or a receipt and proposes the draft. A person confirms it, and only then does anything reach the books.

AIReads and drafts
PersonConfirms
LedgerReaches the books

Every machine-read value is labelled.

Until confirmed, it carries an AI badge with its confidence. Once a person confirms it, the badge retires and the record shows who confirmed it and when.

Arithmetic is checked, not trusted.

If the lines do not add up to the total the model read, its confidence is capped and the draft is flagged.

No bulk approval.

Drafts cannot be accepted in bulk. Each one is looked at, because a wrong amount accepted at speed is still wrong.

Your documents stay private.

The models run on Equinox’s own AI servers, not a public AI service. Your invoices are not used to train anyone’s model.

Is Parity for you?

Built for you if most of these are true

  1. Several companies

You own or run two or more companies, and perhaps keep personal books that interact with them.

  2. Across borders

Your entities sit in more than one jurisdiction or currency, or one of them works across a border.

  3. One version of the truth

Your records today are a mix of software, spreadsheets and memory, and you want one version of the truth.

  4. An audit trail, built in

You want the audit trail an auditor or tax office expects, without building it yourself.

Case study

Three years of history, reconciled line by line

A self-employed consultant came to Parity with three years of tax returns already filed and no books behind them, only bank statements and a working spreadsheet. Parity rebuilt the books from the statements themselves, one entry for every bank line, and proved them against the returns before anything was loaded.

3
years of filed returns rebuilt
4,100+
statement lines, two banks, two currencies
41
adjustments for what never passed through a bank
100+
entries flagged with a reason
  1. Scale.

Over 4,100 statement lines across two banks and two currencies, plus 41 adjustments for what never passed through a bank: cash rent, equipment brought into the business, depreciation and prepayments.

  2. Result.

Every line of the trading account in each of the three years agrees with the filed return to the cent. The only differences come from the tax portal’s rounding to whole currency units. All three bank statements reconcile completely, every line matched and confirmed.

  3. Checked twice, independently.

Two separate reviews re-derived the figures from the original workbook and sampled hundreds of entries against the raw statements before anything was loaded.

  4. It paid for itself.

The rebuild surfaced a statement-parsing fault in the earlier spreadsheet work. It also found a business fee that had never been claimed and two refunds that had never been netted. The client amended two returns on the strength of it.

  5. Nothing hidden.

Over a hundred entries the tax office could question were flagged with a reason, so the owner knows exactly where the exposure sits.

Run for you by Equinox

Your team’s job is the books. Everything behind them is ours

You use Parity in the browser; Equinox runs everything behind it. Hosting, updates, backups, the AI models and the jurisdiction rules are our job.

01

Discovery

We map your entities, jurisdictions, year ends, VAT positions and filing calendar, and agree which history to bring across.

02

Auditable migration

Opening balances or full transaction history, from your workbooks, previous software or bank statements. Every migrated year is reconciled to your filed figures before go-live, with a written reconciliation report.

03

Go-live

Your users sign in with passkeys, each seeing only the entities they are entitled to. That way, your data stays safe and you automatically comply with contractual strict-need-to-know clauses.

04

Ongoing

We keep tax rules, deadlines and e-invoicing formats current, take encrypted backups that are restore-tested automatically, and support your team when a question turns on the rules.

Built for groups that cross borders

Each jurisdiction is a pack of rules and data, not a setting

Today Parity ships packs for Maltese companies, Maltese individuals and Mauritian self-employed individuals, each with its own chart, VAT rules and statutory calendar.

People are entities too

A sole trader has drawings, not dividends, and a personal tax return, not a corporate one. Parity keeps an owner’s personal books as a first-class entity alongside the companies.

VAT status changes over time, and Parity remembers when

Each entity’s VAT position is recorded with effective dates, and every invoice is checked against the position on the day of supply.

Source and remittance are recorded as facts

Where tax turns on where work was performed, or on when foreign income reached the country, Parity records both on the documents and in a remittance register. Your adviser reads the facts, not a guess.

Many currencies, one functional currency per entity

Foreign-currency transactions keep both amounts, so a euro account in a rupee-based business still reconciles to the euro statement.

We will show Parity working on a group like yours and outline what moving your books across would involve.
